SOFT DROP COOKIES

3 1/4 cup of sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of teaspoon soda
1 cup of shortening
1 1/2 cup of brown sugar
4 well beaten eggs
2 cups of pecans
2 cup of dates

( chop, then measure nuts and dates- dredge in some of the flour)
Sift dry ingredients. Blend sugar and shortening. add eggs and beat well. Add flour and

mix slowly until smooth. Add dates and nuts and mix by hand until covered by batter

and well mixed. Drop on greaased cooked sheet and bak in over at 350 degrees to

400 degrees about 12 to 15 minutes.

This is not what a soft drop cookie looks like but could not take one of the real things. But enjoy the cookie recipe we have here of the soft drop cookie.
